Does Instagram Tell You Who Viewed Your Profile? (Honest Answer)

Short answer: no. Instagram does not tell you who viewed your profile. There is no feature, no list, and no hidden setting that reveals it. If that’s all you came for, that’s the truth — but it’s worth understanding why, because a whole category of scam apps is built on this exact wish.
What Instagram actually shows
People mix up a few different things:
- Story views — you can see who viewed your story, for the 24 hours it’s live (and a bit longer in your archive). This is the real feature people remember.
- Live video — you can see who’s watching while you’re broadcasting.
- Profile (grid) views — there is no way to see who looked at your profile or your posts. Instagram doesn’t collect or expose this for you.
So "who viewed my story" has an answer; "who viewed my profile" does not.
Why the "profile viewer" apps can’t work
Because Instagram never exposes profile-view data, no third-party app can have it either. So the apps in the app stores promising "see who viewed your profile" are doing one of two things:
- Making it up — showing you random or "most-interacted-with" accounts dressed up as viewers.
- Phishing you — asking you to log in with your Instagram password, which is exactly the behaviour that gets accounts action-blocked or banned. We covered that trap in detail in why password apps get you banned.
Either way, you’re paying (often weekly) or risking your account for data that doesn’t exist.
What you actually can find out — privately
You can’t see profile viewers, but you can answer the questions that usually sit behind that curiosity — who’s drifting away, who never followed back — using your own data, with no login and no password.
Instagram gives you a copy of your followers and following lists on request. Unfollowly reads that export in your browser and shows you:
- who doesn’t follow you back,
- who unfollowed you (by comparing two exports over time),
- your fans, mutuals, and pending requests.
All of it runs on your device — nothing is uploaded, and there’s no password to hand over.
How to check
- In Instagram: Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information.
- Pick only "Followers and following" and the JSON format.
- Open the file in the checker — results are instant.
Bottom line
Instagram doesn’t tell you who viewed your profile, and any app claiming otherwise is either guessing or after your password. What you can do, safely, is see who follows you back and who doesn’t — from your own data, on your own device.
